The Carers Information Service provides advice, information, training and support to carers either living in or caring for someone who lives in the London Borough of Croydon.
The term ‘carer’ refers to someone who looks after a child or an adult who needs help due to disability, illness or frailty. Carers may look after a friend, family member or neighbour and the care they provide is unpaid. They are not paid care workers or foster carers. There are around 6 million carers in the UK and over 30,000 in the London Borough of Croydon.
Are you a carer? At some point in our lives, 3 out of 5 of us will take on a caring role. It can happen when you least expect it and can be unpredictable. Getting information is one of the most important elements of being a carer – so that you know about your rights and entitlements and how to get support. Without information, you don’t know what you might be missing out on.
If you looking after someone and you have a question about caring we can help. If you don’t know which way to turn we can help.
This website gives you a wealth of information to help you in your caring role. You can also find out about three other projects that work with carers and share the same premises as us at Courtyard House:
